Starting Off

Welcome to this test site. It's in its early stages. What has been done so far?

There is lots more that I am going to fiddle with. Comment on what has been done, and what you're interested in seeing.

It looks really great, in my opinion. I definitely love it.

That was so that if we end up using this as a test site for SM, nobody can find it. So any of our usernames, anything relating to sm3/sm2.5 were out of the question. So since if this does become a test site, I thought people should have to really try to find it.

Anyway, this is a lot of work for one day in. Definitely looking great. Also, about the chat, to solve the problem that we've had with people having to use aliases when they log in just to see who's online, I'm working on making a block on the portal that displays the list. Working with the code is a bit of a pain, but my hope is work on that and get that done soon.

Okay, that sounds good about chat! It'll definitely be useful.

Also, don't mind the appearance of the stats section, I'm in the process of implementing a tabs set up, where members online, statistics are in separate tabs, also a tab for the twitter feed, an about us one, and maybe one with links to the filecave, etc. For now ones not used are merely "dummy" tabs.

Well, that didn't work as planned. Ajax chat's code is a nightmare to look at due to its size, but I am getting a chat op command in the works.

So far, it doesn't do its job at all. Instead of promoting a user to chat mod position temporarily, it demotes the person who called it to chat moderator (instead of chat admin). It used to be worse, where it would literally demote you to a guest user.

Either way, I've found the function that sets a user's role. I just need to figure out how to get it to apply to the right user, instead of the user that called the /op command.

My hope is that once that's done, I'll understand Ajax chat's code enough to tackle the who's online list.

Yeah, code can be messy. The first time I did a navbar change went horribly wrong.

And I noticed you added the portal. I'm thinking we'll probably keep a portal that's pretty similar to what we have, but why not update?

The /op command is now added to the chat.

/op user1234
This command actually promotes user1234 to a full chat moderator in the database. They remain a chat moderator until they log out or use the /dethrone command. (Yes, /dethrone "dethrones" a user from being a chat op. )

The only problem is that the chat makes no distinction between a chat moderator and a chat operator, so chat operators could actually use the /op command to promote other chat operators too. Also, the chat op command, if used on an administrator, demotes then from chat admin to chat moderator.

Needless to say, it has bugs, but at least it works

Umm... I thought you enabled the portal. It wasn't me.
